Howling Cow ice cream is so good! I love Moose Tracks and Chocolatte Peanut Butter swirl. It’s fun to take your ice cream out to the porch and sink into a rocking chair to watch the cows.

Big scoops. Creamy. No fillers. Nice pasture view. Get a cup if it’s a warm day and you want to sit outside because the ice cream will melt faster than you can eat it. Had a scoop of the butter almond flavor which is like butter pecan but with almond and a scoop of the caramel mocha flavor which is like a caramel macchiato coffee. Both were very good.

Howling Cow Dairy Education Center and Creamery in Raleigh is one of those places that just gets everything right. Run by NC State students, it combines great ice cream with a genuinely welcoming, laid-back vibe. The ice cream itself is excellentβ€”rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. My personal favorites are the banana splits, which are HUGE but still surprisingly affordable. The staff are consistently friendly and add to the overall positive experience. What really sets this place apart, though, is the setting: you can enjoy your ice cream inside or head out to the beautiful porch, where you can sit, relax, and even watch the cows nearby. All in all, it’s a fun, relaxed spot with great ice cream and a unique atmosphere that makes it well worth a visit.

This is a super cool hidden gem out by Lake Wheeler. We took kids to go walk at Yates mill pond then came over here for ice cream. The ice cream is amazing - kids got the ice cream nachos and they loved digging in!

Place was hopping the line was out the door and down the sidewalk. The staff was efficient and friendly. The flavor choices of ice cream were fun. It’s a great place to hang out. They is inside space to sit and enjoy your ice cream choice. There is a wonderful lawn and a great wrap around porch with rocking chairs to sit and enjoy as you over look the fields. We enjoyed our ice cream. The pink milkshake is the student of the month creation called the Giddy up Shake, the bowl is the flavor of the month Carmel Coffee Gato and the other milkshake is a cookie dough and cookies and cream milkshake.
